Baking Soda, not only for Baking
Many items found in the kitchen have multiple uses. The one that stands out above all is your baking soda. It's true, plain and simple baking soda has many uses.
Let me show you the ways baking soda can be expanded beyond your next recipe:
- The first most important thing it can do for you naturally is unclog your drain. Good lord, please stop using the drain cleaner that is found on your local grocer's shelf!
Here is the simple solution, pour one cup table salt, one cup baking soda, and one half cup of white vinegar down the drain. Let stand for fifteen minutes. Next pour 2 cups boiling water into the drain. Follow this by letting the hot water run from the tap for at least a minute.
You will be astonished by the results. This combination truly works without having to add toxins to the drain system.
- Baking soda also works extremely well as a stain remover or scouring powder if you mix it with salt. Mix equal portions of baking soda and salt, use this the same way you would as any other scouring powder. Very effective, without adding toxins to the environment.
- You put in your fridge for odor removal, why not on the carpet? Achieves same result, and won't cause a rash on your skin! Sprinkle it directly onto carpet, let stand for ten minutes and vacuum. It is an awesome odor eliminator.
- Need an extra boost for your dishwasher detergent? Add a small amount of baking soda next time you load the dishwasher. Dishes will come out sparkling clean, and you will not be adding more phosphates into the earth.
- Need to take the pain out of a bee sting? Make a paste from baking soda and water and apply directly to the bee sting. You will be pain free in no time flat.
- Great pain remedy for chicken pox as well. Add two teaspoons of baking soda to the bath water to ease the pain.
- Don't panic if you have a grease fire on the stove top. Safely put the fire out by sprinkling baking soda on the fire.
- Have cats and can't stomach the litter box smell? After thoroughly cleaning the box and letting it dry – completely coat the bottom with baking soda and add your litter on top. It will absorb the odors.
- Great laundry booster too! Mix equal parts of baking soda and laundry detergent to make your laundry smell fresh. Its odor elimination qualities can't be beat, and your detergent will last longer. Resulting in less toxins to be consumed by the earth.
- I already had mentioned keeping a box in your refrigerator, but failed to mention that you should change this at least once a month.
